Quel lieu dois-je indiquer ?
Par exemple, votre lieu de résidence si vous souhaitez demander un passeport ou le lieu d'implantation de votre entreprise si vous souhaitez déclarer un commerce.

- for proof of marriage:
- Marriage certificate or
- extract from the family register or
- Original extract from the marriage register of the divorced marriage
- complete copy or certified copy of the foreign divorce issued by the court of the country concerned
- in the case of official divorce:
- Divorce certificate or
- original extract from the divorce register
- Proof of the legal validity of the foreign divorce, for example by means of a court stamp
- in countries where an entry in the register is required for the divorce to take effect: Proof of entry in the register
- Translations of all foreign-language documents prepared by a recognized translation agency in Germany
- Certificate of your income
- In the case of representation: written power of attorney
- Copy of your valid passport
For all foreign documents, the following information must be confirmed by the German embassy in the country of divorce or a designated authority there:
- Authenticity of the signature and
- Authorization of the person issuing the document
Special guidelines apply to documents from countries whose documentary system has serious deficiencies according to the Federal Foreign Office.
Explication simple
If a marriage was divorced in another country, the divorce is initially only valid there. If the divorce is to be recognized in Germany, you can apply for this.
If your marriage was divorced after 01.03.2001 in a member state of the European Union (EU), you do not generally have to apply for recognition. This does not apply to Denmark.
You also do not have to apply for recognition of your foreign divorce if
- both spouses were nationals of the country in which the divorce took place, and
- neither of the spouses was a German citizen or a German national.
Quelles sont les exigences à respecter ?
- The marriage was divorced outside the European Union (EU) or in Denmark or before 01.03.2001 or before the state that issued the decision joined the EU.
- It is your own divorce or
- You have a legal interest in having the divorce recognized, for example
- as a new partner or
- because of pension and inheritance claims.
