Strengthening families, embracing diversity, creating opportunities. Together for a strong North Rhine-Westphalia.

The North Rhine-Westphalia state prize is entering its third round. Under the motto "Family community 2026. A home. For families", municipalities in NRW are invited to submit their overall family policy concepts or individual projects by July 17, 2026.

In order to increase the uptake of the education and participation package, Familienportal.NRW provides municipalities, institutions and organizations with compact information and print materials such as posters, flyers and postcards free of charge and in multiple languages. The postcards are now also available in Arabic and Ukrainian!

The new brochure "Breastfeeding friendliness on site - practical tips for local authorities" offers cities and municipalities practical suggestions on how to create breastfeeding-friendly structures and better support mothers in public spaces.

What are the differences in working conditions in "typical male", "typical female" and gender-unspecific occupations? A recent publication presents data on physical, mental and environmental work demands, work intensity and resources at work, among other things.

Under the motto "Family. Community. Cohesion.", the North Rhine-Westphalian state government is once again recognizing municipalities that are particularly committed to family friendliness on the ground. The towns of Siegen, Vreden, Lennestadt and Nettersheim were the winners with their concepts. The award ceremony will take place on October 28 in Düsseldorf.
