Family-Friendly Community 2025

North Rhine-Westphalia is a family-friendly state, and local governments play a crucial role in this. They are increasingly approaching public administration from the perspective of families, and challenges are viewed as opportunities. Whether in a major city, a medium-sized city, a small town, or a rural community: family-friendliness can be experienced firsthand where people live. 

To recognize municipal commitment and highlight particularly family-friendly projects, the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Family Affairs is, for the second time, honoring municipalities that address the diverse realities of everyday family life and demographic change through innovative concepts or individual projects.

The motto of the 2025 “Family-Friendly Municipality” State Award is “Family. Community. Cohesion.”
