A Network That Supports

Text last updated: 2026-11-03

Networking Through Participation

This cultural city in the Teutoburg Forest combines urban charm with green surroundings. Approximately 77,000 residents call this the largest city in the Lippe district home.

Focus on Children and Families

Detmold views family-friendliness as a long-term municipal commitment: Children, youth, and families should have good opportunities for development and participation at every stage of life.

With the Familien.Info.Treff (F.I.T) and the Children and Youth Service Center PUB.I.T, Detmold has central contact points that bring together counseling, information, support, and participation, and make it easier for families and young people to access suitable services. Together, they form important building blocks of the municipal prevention chain.

State Award for Family-Friendly Communities 2026

Detmold has been pursuing a comprehensive family policy strategy for many years. The measures are embedded in the city’s overall strategy and are supported by sustained municipal investments. The jury was particularly impressed by the combination of a prevention chain, a community-based approach, and low-threshold access points. In this way, the city demonstrates how family-friendliness can be achieved. For this holistic approach, Detmold was honored as the “Family-Friendly Municipality 2026” in the category “Comprehensive Family Policy Concept.”
