Parents with disabilities get help

Many couples want to have a child.
This also applies to parents with learning difficulties.
And for parents with intellectual disabilities.
These parents get help.
This help is called: Accompanied parenthood.
So parents can be strong.
And the child is doing well.

What is assisted parenting?

Was ist begleitete Elternschaft

Assisted parenthood begins even before the birth.

For example, specialists help:

  • when you are pregnant
  • when your child is born
  • when your child grows up
  • when caring for your child
  • when visiting the doctor
  • when making appointments with the authorities
  • when dealing with money

  • when planning everyday life
  • when playing with your child
  • when you have questions
  • when you need help

Where does the help take place?

The help is usually at your home.
There is also help in a special residential facility.
The parents and the child live there together.
This special residential facility is called a
mother-father-child facility.
They all receive help with everyday life with the child.

Who pays for the help?

For example:

  • the youth welfare office
  • the landscape association

You must submit an application.
Specialist people or friends can help with this.

Where can I get advice in North Rhine-Westphalia?

People with disabilities receive advice.

The advice helps:

  • to find the right help.
  • to fill out an application.

Counseling costs no money.

You can get advice:

  • At the youth welfare office in your place of residence
  • At a pregnancy advice center
  • At the Landschafts-Verband Lippe or Landschafts-Verband Rheinland
  • At the EUTB

Assisted parenting should get better.
