Active fathers report - the ministry listens

For the state government's new family report, the Ministry for Children, Youth, Family, Equality, Refugees and Integration is talking directly to mothers and fathers in North Rhine-Westphalia.the focus is on a wide variety of family forms. As part of the Fathers' Summit 2025 in Düsseldorf, the experiences, wishes and expectations of fathers are the focus of Familiendialog.NRW.

Fathers' Summit on 29.06.2025 in Düsseldorf

The Fathers' Summit will take place on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the adventure playground in Düsseldorf-Eller. The Fathers' Summit is a joint event of the Office for Equality and Anti-Discrimination of the City of Düsseldorf, the State Working Group for Fathers' Work NRW and the equal opportunities offices of the cities of Dortmund, Münster, Essen, Recklinghausen and Bonn. The Familiendialog.NRW is accompanied by the economic research company Prognos.

Program

The program includes inspiring keynotes, exciting campfire talks and numerous hands-on activities on the topics of fatherhood, bonding and equal care. A welcome address by the Lord Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller will round off the event.

Familiendialog.NRW: What do fathers need to be fathers?

The open forum of the Family Dialogue deals with the question of what fathers need to be fathers. There is the opportunity to talk plainly about topics such as role models, compatibility, equality and gender equality, separation and all other facets of fatherhood.

The results from the discussion rounds will be incorporated into the Family Report 2026.

  • U75 to Vennhauser Allee terminus, also by streetcar 701 and bus lines M1, 730, 731, 732, 735, from here approx. 5 minutes on foot towards Schloss Eller
  • S1 to Eller Mitte or Eller S6 to Eller Süd, from all S-Bahn stations approx. 12 minutes on foot

By car:

  • From the north, east and south to the Hilden junction A 46 towards Neuss to the Düsseldorf Süd junction, exit D Eller straight ahead to the 4th traffic light, here turn left into Sackgasse. At the end of the cul-de-sac, entrance to the adventure playground
  • from the west via AB Kreuz Neuss Süd A 46 towards Wuppertal to AB Kreuz Düsseldorf Süd, exit D Eller, after the traffic lights at the exit, continue straight on until the 5th traffic light, here turn left into a cul-de-sac (drinking hall on the corner), at the end of the cul-de-sac entrance to the adventure playground

There are many support and advice services available in North Rhine-Westphalia. the Family Guide of Familienportal.NRW makes it easier for you to find a suitable service near your place of residence.

The Männerberatungsnetz bundles advice services that specialize in the concerns and conflict situations of boys, men and fathers. You can use the counseling map to find a counseling service near you.

Fathers can also find information and referrals to professional advice services on the information platform of the LAG Väterarbeit.
