Family dialog for all families 2026

Talking together - sharing experiences - developing ideas. On February 28, 2026, families from all over North Rhine-Westphalia are invited to come and talk to each other at Familiendialog.NRW in Essen.

Registration deadline is February 18, 2026.

Parents discuss with the state government

The Familiendialog.NRW is part of a series of events in which the perspectives of families are systematically recorded. After several events with individual family groups, we would like to bring all families together at the end of the dialog series.

On February 28, 2026, there will be an opportunity to talk to Family Minister Verena Schäffer in person to exchange ideas and share experiences, wishes and challenges regarding the reality of family life.

What strengthens, what burdens, what is needed for a good family life in NRW?

As a prelude, you will receive information on the background to the Family Report 2026. Based on this brief input, we would like to discuss the following with you:

  • What topics, situations and challenges are currently occupying your family the most?
  • How do you deal with stressful or burdensome times - and what helps your family in particular when many things come together at the same time?
  • What do families need in order to be able to participate well in life in their environment - in everyday life, locally and in practical terms?
  • Where do you lack financial or organizational relief - and what offers would make your everyday life noticeably easier?
  • What would have to change in order to better reconcile everyday working life and family life, for example in terms of childcare times, working conditions or organizational processes?
  • What wishes and expectations do you have of politics, administration and society so that families can live well and carefree?

Your comments from the event will be compiled and documented and will form a valuable basis for the upcoming NRW Family Report.
