The Familiendialog.NRW for single parents kicked off a series of dialog events in Cologne in March 2025. It took place with the participation of the Association of Single Mothers and Fathers in North Rhine-Westphalia and was accompanied by the economic research company Prognos.
Single parents make up around a fifth of all families. The burdens here are often high, the demands on compatibility and financial security enormous. Despite this, these mothers and fathers stand up for their children every day - with a great deal of strength and commitment.
In the open forum of the Family Dialogue, there was the opportunity to talk straight about topics such as childcare, mental load, financial challenges, bureaucratic hurdles and support services.
All results will be incorporated into the new Family Report 2026 of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
