Meeting places for families looking for community and support

The State Association of Mothers' Centers NRW is the network of mothers' centers and open houses for young and old in North Rhine-Westphalia. These open meeting places give mothers and fathers the opportunity to exchange ideas, help themselves and learn together. The Landesverband Mütterzentren NRW informs and networks the centers and provides advice and support.

The Familienportal.NRW has asked the Landesverband Mütterzentren NRW to briefly introduce its work, goals and commitment.

What are the goals of the NRW Mothers' Centers?

We strengthen families - especially mothers and fathers who want to make a difference. You are the experts on your personal life situation. Our aim is to create feel-good places where you can meet, support and grow together. With a family café as an open meeting place and plenty of space for your ideas. Exchange is particularly important in crises such as after a difficult birth, disability, separation or professional upheaval.

Who is the association addressing?

Want to make a difference for families in your city? Then you've come to the right place! We support committed mothers, fathers, neighbors and initiatives that create meeting places for exchange, support and new perspectives - intergenerational, diverse and open to all. Especially when life isn't easy.

How are families supported in concrete terms?

We provide advice on ideas and start-ups, network you with other committed people, offer further training and bring your experience into politics. Our aim is to create structures in which families strengthen each other - in the event of separation, disability, compatibility or professional reorientation. You are not alone!

What are the three most pressing issues at the moment?

  1. Families need safe, permanent places of well-being - not temporary projects.
  2. Volunteering and family self-help need recognition, support and fewer hurdles.
  3. Mothers and single parents are often stretched to the limit - we are committed to providing relief, participation and fair opportunities.

Why is it worth getting involved in the association's work?

Because we can achieve more together. With us, you will find exchange, support and further training - professionally, personally and politically. Together, we create places that support families, especially in difficult times. Your idea counts - and can be a start for many.
