Family-Friendly Community 2026
Cities, municipalities, and counties in North Rhine-Westphalia are implementing numerous innovative projects that improve the daily lives and quality of life for local families.
With the goal of highlighting the family-friendliness and commitment of local communities and creating a space for exchange and inspiration, the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Family Affairs is announcing the state award “Family-Friendly Community” for the third time in 2026. The 2026 motto is: “A Home. For Families.”
Committed municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia were invited to submit applications by July 17, 2026, presenting their comprehensive family-friendly strategies or individual projects. This year, a special focus is placed on the topics of “Balancing Family, Caregiving, and Work” and “Combating Child and Family Poverty.”
