Your way to the application
The family recreation is organized by the travel service of Diakonie Ruhr-Hellweg e. V.. Your application can only be submitted online via the Reisedienst portal:

For your application, you will need:
- current proof of receipt of child benefit (for example, a copy of the last bank statement with the name of the account holder or a notification of receipt).
- the complete income tax assessment notice for the year before last before the application is submitted (an income tax statement alone is not sufficient). If you are not assessed for income tax or a corresponding income tax assessment notice has not yet been issued, the income to be offset will be determined using a corresponding income questionnaire.
- If you are receiving social benefits such as citizen's allowance or social assistance at the time of application, you will also need a current benefit notification.
There are no costs involved in the application process.
Simply explained
A family vacation together contributes significantly to strengthening the relationships between parents, but above all between parents and children, in addition to relaxing together.
The state of North Rhine-Westphalia supports vacations for low-income families, especially single parents and large families as well as families with children in need of care or with a family member with a disability.
What requirements must be met?
Family time NRW is aimed at low-income families who are eligible for support under Section 53 of the German Tax Code. The following requirements also apply:
- At least one minor child must belong to the family and travel with them.
- The family must live in one household and reside in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Participation in the program is only possible every two years.
What do I get?
The program offers a family vacation with three to six nights in a family holiday resort in North Rhine-Westphalia or nationwide. Full board and various family-friendly activities are included for participating families.
