Craft idea 1: Felt tree

These materials are needed:

  • Felt strips in red or green or other colors of your choice
  • Baker's twine
  • A needle with a large eye and a sharp point
  • Wood beads with a diameter of approx. 5 mm
  • Scissors

Instructions: How to do it step by step

  • Step 1

    Cut the felt:

Cut narrow strips from the felt, approx. 1 cm wide and 50 cm long.

  • Step 2

    Prepare the loop:

First use the baker's twine to tie a small loop for hanging. Then thread the yarn into the needle.

  • Step 3

    Threading felt and beads:

Start with a wooden bead. Then stitch on the felt ribbon and thread on another bead. Place the felt in small loops. Round by round, the loops get a little bigger - so your little Christmas tree grows layer by layer.

  • Step 4

    Finishing:

Once your little tree is the desired size, finish it off with a wooden bead. Knot the yarn tightly and cut off the end. Your magical mini Christmas tree is finished!

TIP:

The felt material is quite firm and can be difficult for small children's hands to pierce. Parents can help by lightly pre-piercing the holes in the felt with a needle beforehand.

Craft idea 2: Colorful felt wreaths

These materials are needed:

  • Colored felt scraps (e.g. in red, green, pink, turquoise, white, brown ...)
  • Scissors
  • Firm craft wire
  • Wool scraps or ribbon

Instructions: How to do it step by step

  • Step 1

    Cut the felt:

Cut lots of small squares (approx. 1 cm wide and 1 cm long) from the felt scraps. The more colorful, the prettier!

  • Step 2

    Prepare the wire:

Take a piece of wire and shape it into a circle (approx. 5 cm in diameter). Do not close the ends completely - this way you can thread the felt squares on later.

  • Step 3

    Thread on the felt:

Pin the cut felt squares in the middle of the wire and push them close together. Alternate the colors until the ring is nicely filled.

  • Step 4

    Close the circle:

When the ring is full, twist the wire ends tightly together and bend them backwards so that no tip protrudes.

  • Step 5

    Attach the ribbon:

Cut a piece of wool or ribbon (approx. 15 to 20 cm), thread it through the wreath and tie a pretty bow. This way you can hang up the felt wreath

    .

You can do everything with it!

The felt trees and felt wreaths not only look beautiful on the Christmas tree, they also look great as small gift tags or as decorations in the children's room.

Have fun crafting and decorating!
