Simply explained
Public libraries are central points of contact for education, culture, information and social interaction. They offer access to media such as books, e-books and films. They promote reading and media skills, serve as places of learning and are meeting places for different target groups, from children to senior citizens.
In order to use the services of a library, you need a library card. The card allows you to borrow or order books and other media as well as take advantage of other services (e.g. access to reading rooms, online lending of digital media).
