We want to support you and your child!
Many activities for children cost money.
For example:
- the soccer club
- the guitar course at the music school
- the lunch at the kindergarten
- the class trip with the school
Some families have little money.
They can't pay for everything.
They still want their children to do well.
That's why BuT help is available.
With BuT, you have to pay less.
You get money for sports clubs or courses for your child, for example!
BuT is the abbreviation for Beducation uand Tparticipation.
Education means: learning something
Participation means: being there, taking part.
Who can get help?
You have a child between the ages of 0 and 18. For some children, assistance can also be paid until they are 25.
And you receive money from the office.
For example:
- Housing allowance
- Citizen allowance
- Child supplement
- Basic security or benefit for living expenses
- You have applied for asylum.
You can then receive BuT assistance.
How much money is there?
Sometimes you don't have to pay anything.
For example, for a class trip or lunch at school.
Sometimes you only get a portion.
For example, for leisure activities in a club.
What help is available?
Help for babies and small children:
For example:
- Music classes
- Exercise classes
The mother or father goes to the class together with the baby.
Help for children in day care
- Lunch
The BuT is used to pay for the cost of lunch at the child daycare facility. - Excursion
The child daycare facility sometimes takes the children on an excursion.
Sometimes this costs something. - Leisure activities
Your child would like to join a club or a course.
For example:
- Sports club
- Swimming course
- Music school
- Theater group
Help for children at school
You can get money for:
- Supplies for school
You need things like exercise books or pens for school. - Excursion
The school or after-school care center goes on an excursion.
Overnight trips are also possible. - Lunch

Sometimes money has to be paid for the journey to school. - After-school help

Sometimes money has to be paid for the way to school.
What parents need to do
Parents must fill out an application form.
The application can be obtained from the office in your place of residence.
If the parents do not have a job:
The parents must then go to the Job Center.
They will receive the application there.
Parents get help here
Sometimes parents need support.
Because the application is complicated.
Or because parents may not understand the language very well.
Counselors at the place of residence help parents fill out the application.
The advisors are helpful and knowledgeable.
Parents can also call the advisors.
