What is Family Recreation NRW?
Families with children should be able to go on vacation.
Even if they have little money.

How does family recreation work?
You are on vacation in a family vacation home.
A family vacation site is a vacation home for families.
The family vacation spot can be:
- in North Rhine-Westphalia
- or in another federal state.
You can stay 3 to 6 nights.
You can get food and drink there.
And there are leisure activities for families.

Who can receive funding?
Family recreation is for families with little money.
The following usually applies:
- You live in North Rhine-Westphalia.
- You have at least one child under the age of 18.
- The child lives with you.
- The child goes on vacation with you.
Important:
You can only take part every 2 years.
Whether you receive funding
also depends on legal regulations.
The travel service will check this when you apply.
How much funding is available?
That depends:
On how many days do you eat in the
holiday home?
- For each child you will receive up to 19.50 euros per day
- For each adult you will receive up to 19.50 euros per day
- For each child with a disability you will receive up to 25.50 euros per day.
What does the vacation cost?
Families often have to pay their own share.
Own contribution means:
You pay a portion yourself.
The personal share is:
- 50 euros per adult
- 25 euros per child.
Does your family earn very little money?
Sometimes you don't have to pay your own share.
Important:
You also need pocket money for your vacation.
You will need to bring this yourself.
Where do you submit the application?
The vacation in the family vacation home is organized by a travel service.
The travel service is part of Diakonie Ruhr-Hellweg e. V.
You can only submit the application online.
To do this, you must go to the Reise-Dienst website.

What do you need for the application?
You need documents for the application.
1. Proof of child benefit
You receive child benefit?
Then you need proof of this.
For example:
- a copy of your last bank statement
- or a letter from the family cashier.
2. proof of your income
You also need an income tax assessment notice.
The tax assessment must be from 2 years ago.
Don't have an income tax assessment?
Then you need to fill out a questionnaire.
3. proof of social benefits
You receive social benefits?
For example:
- Citizen money
- Social assistance
Then you need a current notification.
