Family-conscious HR policy: what does it take?

Text last updated: 2026-02-12

Employers discuss with the state government

How can companies successfully balance work, family and care? And what framework conditions do employers want for this?

On February 25, 2026, Family Minister Verena Schäffer is inviting representatives from companies and interested parties who are involved in reconciliation issues to discuss these and other questions. The focus will be on the opportunities, challenges and success factors of a family and care-conscious HR policy. The aim is to bring together different perspectives in an open discussion and provide impetus for a sustainable working environment.

The Familiendialog.NRW is part of a dialogue series in which the perspectives of families are examined. All results will be incorporated into the new Family Report 2026 of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

What promotes, what hinders and what is needed for a family-conscious HR policy?
