Many activities for children cost money.  

For example:

• the soccer club
• the guitar class at music school
• lunch at preschool
• the school field trip

Some families don't have much money.
They can't afford everything.
But they still want their children to be happy.   

That’s what the BuT program is for.
With BuT, you’ll pay less.
You’ll receive money, for example, for your child’s sports club or classes!

You have a child between the ages of 0 and 18. For some children, the benefit may also be paid until they turn 25. 
And you receive money from the government.

For example:

• Housing allowance
• Basic Security Benefit
• Child Supplement
• Basic Income Support or Livelihood Assistance
• You have applied for asylum.  

In that case, you are eligible for BuT assistance.

Sometimes you don't have to pay anything at all.
For example, for a class field trip or lunch at school.
Sometimes you only have to pay part of the cost.
For example, for recreational activities at a club.

For example:

• Music classes
• Movement classes

The mother or father attends the class with the baby.

• Lunch
  The BuT covers the cost of lunch at the daycare center.
• Field Trip
  The daycare center sometimes takes the children on field trips.
  Sometimes there is a cost for this.
• Leisure Activities
  Your child would like to join a club or take a class.

For example:

• Sports club
• Swimming class
• Music school
• Theater group

You can get money for:

• School supplies
  For school, you need things like notebooks and pens.
• Field trip
  The school or after-school program is organizing a field trip. 
  Overnight trips are also possible.
• Lunch
  Lunch at school or after-school care.
• Money for the trip to school
  Sometimes you have to pay for the trip to school.
• After-school help
  Does your child need help with homework?
• Recreational activities

For example

• Sports clubs
• Dance groups
• Theater groups
• Music school

You can get money for:

• School supplies
  You need things like notebooks and pens for school.
• Field trips
  The school organizes field trips and excursions.
• Lunch at school
• After-school help
  Does your child need help with their studies?
• Money for the trip to school
  Sometimes you have to pay for the trip to school.

Parents must fill out an application.  
They can get the application at the local government office in their place of residence.

If the parents are unemployed:
Then the parents must go to the Job Center.
They will receive the application there.

Sometimes parents need help.
Because the application is complicated.
Or because parents might not understand the language very well.

Advisors in your area help parents fill out the application.  
The advisors are helpful and knowledgeable.
